The Odes

The Odes are sound artist Sam Britton, aka Isambard Khroustaliov and Ted Milton, legendary frontman of Blurt, saxophonist, poet, singer and puppeteer, active since the 1960s when he published his first volume of verse.

Fusing avant-garde sound assemblages, improvisation, experimental electro-acoustic textures, politically charged poetry, free-jazz saxophone and propulsive rhythms, The Odes have toured extensively in Europe and has featured, amongst numerous other festival appearances, as part of Patti Smith’s “Soirées Nomades” at the Fondation Cartier.

“outrageous, profane performances … Milton’s anti-authoritarian streak remains as strong as ever” – The Guardian

“encapsulates the current messy, fucked-up state of the society and politics, and offers up a performance of equals working out on the peripherals of the music world.” – Monolith Cocktail
