Martin Hampton has been working on a new film which is currently screening as an accompaniment to Icarus’ live sets during the Sylt Remixes tour this summer. Partly taking its cue from the music, the film explores the often surreal workings of the micro and macroscopic forces that surround us, etching out a Sisyphean tale encoded in the various signs and symbols which illuminate the journey.
News From Tom Arthurs …
hello hello… a small word in your ear about some upcoming performances!
Icarus – Norberg
Icarus perform live with Rumpistol and Snoleoparden (and many more) @ Norberg Festival, Norberg (SWE).
Icarus – Copenhagen
Icarus play live (accompanied by a specially commissioned film by Martin Hampton) at the Copenhagen Jazzhouse with support from Opiate.
Icarus – London
After a conspicuous absence of almost 2 years, Icarus (the electronic duo of Ollie Bown and Sam Britton) return to the London stage in anticipation of their first remix album: Sylt Remixes (which sees their 2007 album Sylt re-worked by the likes of Frank Bretschneider, Ital Tek and Xela amongst others).
Icarus’s set will premiere to a specially commissioned film by Martin Hampton and support comes from fellow electronic music adventurers ISAN and Yee-King (with the Glass Shrimp on DJ duty).
This promises to be an epic night of out of the box electronic improvisation and experimentation, all locked into place by inhumanly precise polyrhythms.
