‘Ultra Slop Out or Die’ is part documentation of Ancient Psychic Triple Hyper Octopus’ ruinous live sound (these two tracks were recorded at London’s now OSCAR approved venue Cafe OTO in June 2025) and part homage to the intense, experimental noise music that emerged in Japan in the late 1970s and continues undeterred today.
The title and format of the record are inspired most obviously, but not exclusively by Yamantaka Eye & Yoshimi P-We (of the Boredoms) side project ‘Ultra Freak Out Or Die’, whose suite of short form 7” releases continued a trend of Japanese experimental and noise music ‘singles’.
Side A; ‘Cat Acid’ begins with the synthetic cat vocal sounds of the Otamatone before evolving through a free acid spin cycle into a riotous trumpet fuelled coda.
Side B; Recorder Consort Bee Snort is by contrast a plaintive elegy to the tragic death of one of the UK’s billionaire tech bros after inhaling a bee whilst playing polo.
Accompanied by a music video created by AI slop pioneer Synthetic Pink AKA Florian Nackaerts, the record is both homage and manifesto; the Pandora’s box of TechnoGnosticism is here to stay: Ultra Slop Out or Die!
