Ted Milton Presents: In Kharms Way & The Odes – Double Bill – Booking From March 2027

For the first time, Ted Milton has united two of his most celebrated shows into a single, two-act touring performance.

The first act takes audiences on a journey through the dark humour and nonsensical logic of pioneering Russian literary absurdist Daniil Kharms.

The second act dives headfirst into Milton’s own prose and verse, delivering a dose of savage irony and bittersweet satire that shines a light on today’s rollercoaster of delusionality.

Combining tape music and the percussive might of David Aylwood (Blurt’s esteemed drummer) in the first act and the propulsive electronics of Sam Britton (AKA Isambard Khroustaliov) in the second, Milton and his cohorts fuse avant-garde sound assemblages, improvisation, experimental electro-acoustic textures, politically charged poetry, free-jazz saxophone and propulsive rhythms to spectacular effect.

In Kharms Way and The Odes have previously toured extensively in Europe as individual performances and have featured, amongst numerous other festival appearances, as part of Patti Smith’s ‘Soirées Nomades’ at the Fondation Cartier, Paris and Thurston Moore’s ‘City Poems & City Music’ at the Whitechapel Gallery, London.

“outrageous, profane performances … Milton’s anti-authoritarian streak remains as strong as ever” – The Guardian

“high art with punk poetic intervention … linguistic détournement, backed by tense electronics” – The Quietus

“encapsulates the current messy, fucked-up state of society and politics, and offers up a performance of equals working out on the peripherals of the music world.” – Monolith Cocktail

Comprising of Alex Bonney (electronics, trumpet), Tim Giles (electronics, drums) and Isambard Khroustaliov (electronics), Leverton Fox are singular as a group, in that they stress the value of playing and improvising using electronics collectively. The importance of this dynamic, has, over the last 15 years, cemented their reputation for producing both genre defying records and mind bending live performances.

‘Eternal Gong Bath of the Sunbed Mind’ is no exception; there are triple albums with less going on in them relative to these supernovae of creations – from which whole galaxies are hinted at …

Dirar Kalash / Rudi Fischerlehner / Isambard Khroustaliov – Shredded Silence

Great to have this record with Palestinian pianist Dirar Kalash finally out. It was recorded in September 2023 when Dirar and Rudi were both on tour in London. All proceeds from this album will go to Palestinian grassroots charities.

‘Déjeuner Sous L’Herbe’ brings together the poetic genius of Ted Milton, legendary frontman of Blurt, and the idiosyncratic electronic artistry of Sam Britton AKA Isambard Khroustaliov; fusing avant-garde sound assemblages, improvisation, experimental electro-acoustic textures, and expressive verse.

This new 2CD release, which arrived in February 2026, captures the singular collaborative vision of The Odes, combining surreal, politically charged poetry, free-jazz saxophone, intricate electronic soundscapes and propulsive rhythms.
