New Release – The Human Arm

The new Leverton Fox album ‘The Human Arm‘ is now available!

"The title of Leverton Fox’s new album may be obliquely suggestive of something chimeric – or even cyborgian – but in fact this is a successful, near seamless, merging of the forms … There is a real sense on The Human Arm that the participants are leaving any individual ego behind to become completely absorbed into a monstrous collective. As a result, it makes for an out of this world sonic experience." The Liminal

"Tim Giles’ fleeting polyrhythms folded into shimmering sci-fi electronica conjure the idea of Elvin Jones jamming with Tangerine Dream." Jazzwise

"The Human Arm is a dark, esoteric mash-up of free jazz, glitchy beats and power electronics-style overdriven bass drones." The Skinny

"… the album will appeal to those who’ve found enjoyment in the free-jazz space exploration of Sun Ra or the psychedelic live performances of Kluster." The Sound Of Confusion

‘3 4 01 2012’ or ‘Three for January 2012’

Here’s wishing everyone a very happy 2012 ! To celebrate we’re excited to be able to offer up an invitation to join us for 3 concerts of note in London (in reverse chronological order):

Lothar Ohlmeier, Tom Arthurs, Ollie Bown and Isambard Khroustaliov will be performing their suite for autonomous electronics and improvisors; Long Division at Kings Place on the 30th January.

Icarus will be performing what looks set to be their only UK date this year at Cafe OTO in Dalston on the 20th January to promote their new album ‘Fake Fish Distribution’ (which comes in 1000 unique variations), released on the 6th February.

Finally, January also introduces Leverton Fox, a trio of Alex Bonney, Tim Giles and Isambard Khroustaliov (pictured above (less Khroustaliov)) whose second LP should be appearing on Not Applicable in the Spring. You can catch them supporting Sons of Kemet; a new project from reedsman Shabaka Hutchings, featuring the double drums of Seb Rochford and Tom Skinner with erstwhile Not Applicable collaborator Oren Marshall on tuba.

Hope to see you out there !

Reunited

Our suite for autonomous electronics; Long Division, which was premiered at the North Sea Jazz Festival in 2010 and performed again at NK in Berlin as part of the NA Festival receives an airing in London at Kings Place on the 30th January 2012.

To celebrate, we are releasing a compilation of recordings of Long Division from NSJ and NK on December 12th. This will be a free download, available to subscribers of the NA mailing list (which is, incidentally also the best place to find about everything else Not Applicable).

Tom will also be performing with Simon Vincent on the same evening and you can pick up a free copy of their duo record Three Improvisations right now by subscribing to the NA list … seriously, it’s a no brainer.
